Each week for the past 3 years I have written articles intended to help you grow your business, elevate your leadership, and deepen your peace.
That’s over 150 ideas and strategies for you to grow in these areas.
Now, compound on top of those articles all the social media reels you’ve watched, podcasts you’ve listened to, books, conferences, and other articles you have consumed throughout the year and you’ve racked up quite a list of things you need to improve on.
Not to mention the list of things you already have in your own head to work on, develop, or level up in your business, your leadership, your parenting, your marriage, your finances, as a friend, and follower of Christ.
We CONSTANTLY have a running list of areas we want to improve; things we ought to implement, areas in life and business we aren’t measuring up to or falling behind on, and projects we should get started on.
And you know what?
It’s exhausting.
So, in this particular article, I want to go another direction.
You don’t need more information.
You don’t need one more thing to DO.
What you really need?
The freedom to feel like you can REST without guilt.
I struggle with rest. Always have.
With all there is to do, rest feels irresponsible.
But the truth is, I can’t rest because I often still live like I’m a slave.
I’m a slave to productivity, because deep down, I believe I only have value when I produce & when I get results.
And honestly, when I get so wound up with my list of things to do, improve and accomplish, mentally it consumes me and I can’t turn it off. The productivity switch is always in the ON position and it takes a toll on me and my family.
It enslaves me. And slaves can’t rest.
What I need, what you need is REST.
To rest in what Christ has done.
To rest in our worth being rooted in Him, not in our DOING.
To rest in the trust that He is in control and He is good.
“If you want rest, you have to go to Him, and if you think you’ve gone to him, but you don’t have any rest, you still haven’t taken hold of what you have (in Christ).
You need to say to yourself, I am not the one who keeps the world running. I’m not the one who’s bringing money to my family. I’m not the one who’s meeting my needs. I am not God. Sabbath (rest) is not only a discipline of liberation, it’s a discipline of trust, saying, I’m not God.”
-Tim Keller-
Rest my friend.
Put down your need for control, to prove, to produce, & to earn.
Rest in what Christ has done.
Cease striving and know He is God.
THEN, enter the next moment, the next task, or the next meeting from that place.
See you next week.
